Wadi Hitan, also known as the Valley of the Whales, is a UNESCO World Heritage Site in the Fayoum Oasis of Egypt. It is famous for its well-preserved fossils of early whales that lived over 40 million years ago during the Eocene epoch.
The valley is about 35 kilometers southwest of the town of Fayoum and covers an area of about 20 square kilometers. It is a remote desert area, and visitors can only access it by four-wheel-drive vehicles.
Visitors to Wadi Hitan can take guided tours of the area to learn about the geology and history of the site. The valley is home to over 400 fossil remains of ancient whales, including skeletons, skulls, and other body parts. Some of the fossils are so well-preserved that they still contain traces of hair and skin, allowing scientists to learn more about the evolution of whales.

Our guide will take you on a day trip to Fayoum and the Valley of the Whales in a car with air conditioning. The plan includes visits to Wadi Al Rayan, the Valley of the Whales, Wadi Hitan, the "Protected Area," and the Mountain of Mudawara. Visit the waterfalls in Wadi Al Rayan, and then go to Medinet Madi, an old city from the third pharaonic dynasty built by Amenemhet III but finished by Amenemhet IV. Your guide will take you back to your hotel in Cairo.
